Current Rabbits In Care
Rabbits found on this page are those that are not ready for adoption yet, most are looking for either long-term fosters or foster to adopt situations.
Sweetie’s Rescue provides everything you need for your foster bun, except fresh veggies.
Fostering can be a very rewarding experience. Fosters are the backbone of every rescue and make all the difference for these rabbits. Are you able to join our team?

Aurora
This petite girl hasn’t had a great start to life. Just a baby and already dumped outside to fend for herself. This lady was found in Petrolia and thank goodness she was caught. She’s spunky and fast which helped her evade predators but she never should have been put in that position. She is now adjusting to life with a safe and loving foster home where she can settle and mature for a bit until she’s old enough for her spay.
~ Intact female ( just a baby, not vaccinated yet)~ Small sized Hotot / Lionhead mix?
~ Estimated age / DOB: February 28th, 2025
~ Currently fostered in St.Marys, ON

Blue
Miss Blue is a gorgeous stray found in Strathroy close to where Jasmine was found. She needs to gain some weight and of course will be receiving her vetting next week but luckily she looks ok otherwise. Hopefully she wasn’t out to long and so far she has been settling in well with here at the rescue.
Will update more as per personality as we get to know her better.
~ Intact female (not spayed or vaccinated yet)
~ Medium sized standard chinchilla?
~ Estimated age / DOB: June 2024
~ Currently fostered in Sarnia, ON

Madeline
Madeline is a lucky stray, she had been out for weeks. When finally caught we discovered she was super skinny, matted and infested with fleas. She’s a smart girl which helped keep her alive despite her poor condition. We are so happy she is safe now and as we work to gain her trust we are seeing a very sweet rabbit who will make someone an awesome companion once she’s recovered.
Madeline has now had an emergency spay and her body tells the story of having had multiple litters in the past. This girl is done pumping out babies and is ready to be treated like the princess she always has been. She is recovering in a loving temporary foster home until she’s ready for adoption.
~ Spayed female (not vaccinated yet*)~ Medium sized angora mix
~ Estimated age / DOB: June 2024
~ Currently fostered in Strathroy, ON
* Spayed June 16/25… in recovery. -
Nova (FTA)
Nova came in with another bun just after Easter, both were found outside horribly matted and in pain. This poor little girl couldn’t even move her tail as her whole back end was just one solid dirty mat. She has now been groomed, is settling and starting to learn good litter habits. She is truly a beautiful bun who is quite curious but still a bit wary of us yet.
Nova now has an amazing foster to adopt placement where she will stay until officially ready for adoption.
~ Intact female (Vaccinated but not spayed*)~ Medium sized lionhead mix
~ Estimated age / DOB: August 2023
*Miss Nova went in for her spay on June 5th but had a severe reaction to the anesthetic so was unable to have her surgery. We are figuring out what the best plan will be for her moving forward…
~ OUR SANCTUARY BUNS ~

OVIE is a super sweet senior boy who came in with severe injuries and had many health concerns. We were able to resolve his immediate medical needs however he has severe non-fixable dental issues which make him unadoptable ethically. So he is now a sanctuary bun in an amazing palliative foster home. He will continue to have strict routine trims to keep him as comfortable as possible and will be loved and spoiled for however many years he has left.

LUNA is a spicy little senior bun that was owner surrendered after they were unable to care for her medical needs. Unfortunately when she went in for her spay it was discovered that she had mammary & uterine cancer and that it had already spread in her body. The vets removed all that they could but could not get it all. Luna’s case highlights again how important early spays are for rabbits. Luna now has a palliative foster home where she is loved and comfortable for the rest of her life.

RUE is a gorgeous girl who came into the rescue with her mom and littermates at 2wks old. Her momma was aggressive toward her babies and they needed to be separated early to keep everyone safe. Rue started showing aggressive tendencies early on towards her siblings and even when she was old enough for her spay they didn’t settle. Rue also has a low stress threshold and suffers from frequent GI issues which led to the decision of her being non-adoptable and staying as a sanctuary bun.

SOPHIA is a sweet senior bun who has been in the rescue for a very long time. She has several ongoing health concerns as well as some age related ailments and so is not a good candidate for adoption. She is bonded to miss Kala and more recently they added Phoenix to their pair making a cute, happy but a bit of an odd ball trio. Despite her ailments Sophia is a happy little old lady who will remain in the rescue mentoring her friends Kala and Phoenix for her remaining time.
